Nacon: Company announces the acquisition of Daedalic Entertainment
Nacon and Daedalic Entertainment, the two companies that are already partners in the publication of one of the most anticipated games of the year 2022, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, have decided to deepen their cooperation.
Thus, Nacon buys the Hamburger Studio Daedalic Entertainment for 53 million euros. This transaction should enable Nacon to acquire several important intellectual property rights and benefit from Daedalic Entertainments in the field of publishing and game development experience.
Integration into the Nacon Group will enable the studio to expand its award-winning development team and strengthen its position as a leading indie publisher. Carsten Fichtelmann, founder and CEO, and Stephan Harms, COO, the company will continue to lead with a high degree of autonomy in development and publishing.
Nacon will support the future projects with united forces through its sales, publishing and marketing teams.
Daedalic Entertainment is an award-winning studio and world-renowned Indie-Publisher. Founded in 2007, based in Hamburg, has developed and published more than 90 games and is one of the largest and oldest independent video game companies in Germany with a talented team of 87 employees.
The studio has developed games for well-known franchises such as Ken Follettts the pillars of the earth, but is also known for its own IPS, including the Deponia Series, Shadow Tactics, Blackguards and The Whispered World.
The renowned publishing department of Daedalic Entertainment manages a wide range of premium games catalog for PC and consoles. The Publisher is a well-known name in the Indie-Publishing area with strong single and multiplayer titles like Witch It!, Unrailed!, Partisans 1941, Hidden Deep, Iratus: Lord of the Dead and BaroTara. The company is represented worldwide, where North America and China are the strongest markets. Daedalic Entertainment has currently announced nine more new games for publication in 2022.
