FIFA-Council confirms exclusion Russian teams

The Football World Association has confirmed the exclusion of Russian teams from all FIFA competitions.

The Council ratified several decisions already made in the World Cup host city of Doha because of the Russian Attack War on Ukraine, as FIFA announced. Currently, neither Russian clubs nor Russian national teams may participate in competitions of the World Association. This had previously decided the office of the Executive Board, the confirmation was a formal act.

Most recently, the International Russian clubs Court CAS had rejected the opposition of Russians against the suspension of the teams by FIFA. The Russian men's national team had been excluded from their playoff semi-finals against Poland from the World Cup qualification and will not be there at the final round in Qatar.

The World Association also decided that contracts with Ukrainian clubs are exposed to the end of the season, and players in Russian clubs may expose their contracts one-sided to 30 June. The German Football Association wants to allow clubs the obligation of players from clubs from Ukraine and Russia, but not to be used in obligations.
